How to Validate your SPF Record?

What is an SPF Record?

An SPF record, also known as the SPF TXT record, is a DNS record similar to a DMARC record that is part of a domain’s DNS. It has a list of all the IP addresses that are allowed to send emails on the domain’s behalf.

You can also create your own SPF record by following the steps mentioned here.

Validating an SPF record

An SPF record can be validated by following these simple steps:
  • Go to the SPF Checker.
  • Enter your domain name. Make sure that you only fill in the domain name without the subdomain and subpages.
  • From the drop-down list, select SPF and then click the ‘Submit’ button to check for your SPF record.
The SPF records are correctly configured when:
  • The page has found an SPF record.
  • The number of lookups in the SPF record does not exceed the maximum limit of 10.
  • The IP addresses displayed are the ones used to send emails.
